Appearance is everything in T-town. But even under the searing glare of the spotlight, these actors-on-the-verge-of-enormous-breakthrough already know how to work the latest spring gear.

Acting is the family business in Zooey Deschanel's household. Zooey, 19, named for the J.D. Salinger character, grew up on film sets hanging out with her actress mom, Mary Jo (The Right Stuff), and Oscar-nominated cinematographer dad, Caleb (The Right Stuff, The Black Stallion, and Fly Away Home). After a single episode of Veronica's Closet, Deschanel (day-Chanel) landed her first feature as the dissolute, magazine-models-obsessed teenager in last year's Mumford. The performance is mesmerizing - and no doubt cadged Deschanel some notice on campus at Northwestern University where she was a Freshman. Work has steam-rolled ever since, and she's given up books for scripts for the foreseeable future. Next up she plays a free-spirited big sister in fall's as-yet-untitled rock 'n' roll in the 70s movie, written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
