The Name
I'm named after Franny and Zooey [a famous book by JD Salinger -ed.] In the book, Zooey is a boy. He's totally disrespectful to his mother and everything, very funny and sarcastic. I'm more like Franny, I would say. My parents just loved the name Zooey and they loved that book, but wanted to make it different from just "Zoe." I love [Salinger's] work; I read most of it by the time I was 15 or 16. He's definitely a classic American author.

I like old Motown stuff, classic rock and that kind of thing,

I just got the best of The Foundations; they sing "Build Me Up, Buttercup" - that's really good. I like the Beach Boys, the "Pet Sounds" kind of stuff. I have really eclectic taste. I like Nina Simone, I just got the new Mary J. Blige CD - really good, so addictive. Sigur Rós - a friend of mine gave me their CD, and I was like, oh my God this is amazing! And I like Radiohead too.

Fashion
I love clothes; I have always been a big clothes person. I don't think things are worth the money unless they're very unusual. I have a few basics and I look for things that are unusual and out of the ordinary, and maybe not everybody would buy and wear. I like to wear a lot of color.

A friend of mine gave me a Chanel scarf for my birthday and I love that. I wear really big sunglasses, sort of Elton John style, like 70s mom kind of glasses.

I have a huge vintage clothes collection; it's almost out of hand. I have a lot of 50s, 60s kind of stuff, like cocktail dresses. I have some 20s clothes. 20s clothes are really hard to come by because the material doesn't last.
